15 new routes proposed from Lyon Airport for the Spring/Summer 2024 season

• VINCI Airports expands its travel offering from Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport with 15 new routes for the spring/summer season, thus offering nearly 120 direct destinations.

• Airlines are also increasing the frequency of their flights, providing even more flexibility for passengers regarding travel dates.

VINCI Airports announces the launch of 15 new routes at Lyon Airport for the Spring/Summer 2024 season, including 3 new destinations: Oslo (with Volotea and Norwegian), Budapest (with easyJet), and Kalamata (with Volotea), in addition to Rabat (with easyJet), which will be served for the first time in the summer. The major summer tourist destinations in terms of available seats remain Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Italy. Notably, emerging destinations include Norway, Albania, and Hungary.

About the long-haul destinations, Air Canada to Montreal and Emirates to Dubai are enhancing their summer schedules by offering daily flights.

The new routes for the Spring/Summer 2024 season are mainly launched by low-cost airlines. This segment represents 55% of the total traffic at Lyon Airport in terms of seat capacity for the period.

In total, nearly 120 destinations will be served directly from Lyon this summer, offering travelers a lot of opportunities to explore the world and create unforgettable memories.

Details of the new Spring/Summer 2024 routes:

EASYJET:

  • Madrid, since 31/03 : The Spanish capital awaits with its rich cultural heritage, world-renowned museums, and delicious cuisine.
  • Athens, since 31/03 : Discover antique history, iconic monuments, and authentic Greek cuisine.
  • Alicante, since 4/05 : Enjoy the sun, beaches, and vibrant nightlife of this Spanish coastal city.
  • Budapest, since 12/05 : Dive into the enchanting atmosphere of the Pearl of the Danube, with its thermal baths, baroque architecture, and lively markets.
  • Heraklion, since 30/06 : Explore Crete with its stunning beaches, Minoan palaces, and charming villages.

VOLOTEA:

  • Marrakech, since 13/04 : Be captivated by the colors, flavors, and souks of Morocco's red city.
  • Naples, since 11/04 : Discover the beauty of the Amalfi Coast, the ruins of Pompeii, and authentic Neapolitan pizza.
  • Rhodes, since 13/04 : Immerse yourself in the medieval history of this Greek island, with its castles, beaches, and picturesque villages.
  • Kalamata, since 17/04 : Explore the Peloponnese, from the Isabeau Castle to friendly taverns, while enjoying its fine sandy beaches.
  • Porto, since 12/04 : Wander through Portugal’s second-largest city, known for its Port wine, baroque architecture, and narrow streets.
  • Oslo, since 12/04 : Norway's capital awaits with its majestic fjords, Viking museums, and vibrant art scene.

NORWEGIAN:

  • Oslo, since 3/05 : offered daily during the high season.

TRANSAVIA:

  • Yerevan, since 13/05 : Discover the Armenian capital with its millennia-old history, ancient churches, and delicious cuisine.
  • Fez, since 12/04 : Immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere of Morocco's most cultural city, with its narrow streets, souks, and mosques.
  • Tirana, since 12/04 : Explore the Albanian capital with its unique blend of Ottoman, Italian, and communist influences.

Additionally, already scheduled for next winter, Cape Verde will be accessible for the first time with direct flights from Lyon Airport starting December 15, 2024. This new route between two VINCI Airports network airports will be operated once a week by Transavia.

The route to Tel Aviv will be resumed by Transavia from October next year.
