Aéroports de Lyon, the first European airport to be awarded AFNOR’s ‘Engagé RSE’ label – ‘Confirmed’ level
Aéroports de Lyon has reached a major milestone by being awarded the ‘Engagé RSE’ label – ‘Confirmed’ level, proof of its maturity and effectiveness in terms of social, economic, and environmental responsibility.
Aéroports de Lyon is the first airport in Europe to achieve this level of certification.
This recognition forms part of VINCI Airports’ overarching approach to positive and sustainable mobility, which is itself aligned with international standards (ISO 26000 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals).
Aéroports de Lyon, managed by VINCI Airports, today announced that it has been awarded the ‘Engagé RSE’ label – ‘Confirmed’ level – by AFNOR Certification. This major accolade highlights its effective and mature approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), making Aéroports de Lyon the first airport in Europe to receive this recognition. Obtaining this label is part of a structured approach, in line with the commitments set out in VINCI’s ‘Together’ manifesto and the Aéroports de Lyon Integrated
Management System (IMS). It incorporates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the recommendations of the ISO 26000 standard.
A strong commitment to sustainable and responsible development

Aéroports de Lyon is committed to incorporating the principles of corporate social responsibility into all its activities in order to address global and local challenges while creating sustainable value for its stakeholders. This ambition is underpinned by sound governance, ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and rigorous monitoring of actions.
Concrete action on corporate, social and environmental issues
Aéroports de Lyon demonstrates its commitment to its staff and its wider community through an ambitious Diversity, Equality and Inclusion policy. This is particularly reflected in its employees’ participation in the Inclusion Campus(1), the roll-out of the VINCI Concessions Integrity whistleblowing platform(2), the introduction of skills-based sponsorship, and participation in the international Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme to support passengers with invisible disabilities.
The company pursues an active policy of dialogue and coordination with the local community. Five-year environmental commitments have been drawn up jointly for each of the two airports – Lyon-Saint Exupéry and Lyon-Bron – in collaboration with the local authorities and neighbourhood organisations. This initiative is accompanied by a charter for economic and social cooperation, signed with neighbouring inter-municipal bodies, as well as the Lyon Aéro Emploi scheme, run in partnership with France Travail to help local residents living near the airport find work.
Other initiatives that have been commended include being awarded the silver label from the Objectif Employeur Pro-Vélo scheme(3), creating community gardens for employees of companies at the airport, sponsoring local charities, and health and safety prevention programmes.
This accreditation also marks the culmination of Aéroports de Lyon’s strong commitment to environmental and energy transition, a key pillar of VINCI Airports’ strategy. Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport was awarded ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation) Level 5 certification in 2025 for achieving the target of net-zero carbon emissions within its direct operational scope, with a 94% reduction in its CO2 emissions over 10 years and the sequestration of its residual emissions through local programmes certified as ‘Low Carbon’. This certification also recognises Aéroports de Lyon’s commitment to supporting the airport’s stakeholders in decarbonising activities that do not fall under its direct responsibility (Scope 3) Find out more .

The Inclusion Campus is an initiative launched in 2019 aimed at helping people who are socially excluded find work and promoting inclusive practices within companies.
As part of the Group’s whistleblowing scheme, VINCI Concessions Integrity is a web-based platform that enables airport staff and stakeholders to report serious workplace breaches of human rights, environmental standards, business ethics or health and safety.
The ‘Objectif Employeur Pro-Vélo’ label recognises employers that are committed to promoting cycling as a means of transport. The scheme aims to make it easier for employees to cycle to work and to promote a culture of sustainable mobility within companies.
