Electric mobility : TotalEnergies and Aéroports de Lyon deploy over 800 electric charging points in the Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport parking lots
- TotalEnergies has won the Aéroports de Lyon tender for the installation, operation, and maintenance of over 800 electric vehicles charging points distributed across all its parking lots.
- All charging points will be powered by renewable electricity, certified by guarantees of origin. The first units are expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
- This installation anticipates the goal set by the Mobility Orientation Law, which mandates the installation of electric charging stations in existing parking lots by January 1, 2025. It will support the growth of the electric vehicle fleet in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Under this 15-year contract, TotalEnergies will offer three types of charging, tailored to meet the needs of private and professional clients of Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport and the surrounding area:
- 770 slow charging points ranging from 3.7 to 7 kVA;
- 28 fast charging points of 50 kW;
- 50 high-power charging points ranging from 200 to 300 kW.
Among these charging points, nearly 80 will be specifically reserved for airport staff. Additionally, to extend the decarbonization solutions implemented by VINCI Airports at Lyon Airport to the wider region, non-airport users will have access to a high-power charging site at the A432 motorway exit, as well as high-power charging points in the north and south waiting areas of the airport.
"We are proud to support Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport in deploying a charging network, thus promoting their transition to electric mobility. With the installation of over 800 charging points, TotalEnergies and Aéroports de Lyon will meet the needs of employees, private visitors, and professionals, with an offering ranging from slow to high-power charging," says Marie Djordjian, Director of TotalEnergies Charging Services France.
"This deployment of 800 electric charging points is part of our strategy to provide passengers and staff at Lyon Airport with access to sustainable and responsible mobility. This commitment has been driven by VINCI Airports since 2016 and aims to reduce both the direct CO2 emissions from its airport activities and its indirect emissions, which mainly concern aircraft operations and passenger access. For example, land access to Lyon Airport accounts for 10% of these indirect emissions," notes Tanguy Bertolus, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de Lyon.
